Jackson Walker Miscellaneous Fee Matters Proceeding Transferred to Western District of Texas

Relevant Document: Order Chief Judge Randy Crane of the Southern District of Texas (Houston Division) entered an order this afternoon transferring the Jackson Walker miscellaneous fee matters proceeding from the Southern District of Texas to Chief Judge Alia Moses in the Western District of Texas.  The miscellaneous proceeding was brought by the U.S. Trustee seeking to claw back the law firm’s fees earned in connection with matters tainted by the undisclosed relationship between former judge David R. Jones and Elizabeth Freeman, a former Jackson walker partner. The UST previously sought to withdraw the reference from the bankruptcy court to the district court. Specifically, the order indicates that the miscellaneous proceeding has been transferred, which was opened to coordinate pretrial matters among the approximately 33 cases flagged by the UST.
