Frequently Asked Questions

If you are having a technical problem, please email [email protected] with details on the issue you are experiencing, and we will provide specific instructions.

If you have a question about a particular intel article, company or situation, please reach out to your dedicated Customer Success Manager or email [email protected] and we will put you in touch with the right people. You can also click the envelope icon in the bottom right-hand corner of the website, enter your question in the text box that appears and click “Send”.

To manage your Octus email settings, click the account icon in the top right-hand corner of the website, then click Alert Preferences and follow these steps:

  • Click “Create a Watchlist”.
  • Name your Watchlist.
  • Select “Companies, Dockets” or “Lifestyle Stages, Sectors, Regions, and/or Countries”.
  • Use the search bar to add items to your Watchlist based on above selection.
  • Select your desired alert type (Intel, Court Filings, etc.) and frequency (instant, daily, etc.).
  • Click “Save”. You will now receive alerts only for the selected items above!

To unsubscribe from Octus emails, click the account icon in the top right-hand corner of the website, then click Alert Preferences and follow these steps:

  • Click “Turn Off All Alerts” (top right-hand corner)
  • Make sure each option under “Email Alerts” is set to “Off”.
  • Click “Digests and Industry Trends” and “Filings Settings” on the left-hand side and make sure everything there is set to “Off”, too.

There is an Octus mobile app for iOS and Android devices. Download it from the App Store and log in with your Octus username and password, then access key features such as breaking news alerts, court and SEC filings databases, intelligence articles, podcasts, webinars and more. Additionally, non-Octus clients can download the iOS app to access select intelligence articles as well as all podcasts.

You can request private dockets be added to Octus by visiting “Alert Preferences” from the account icon in the upper right-hand corner of the website. Click “Filing Settings” on the left-hand side, then enter a case name / number in the “Chapter 11 Docket Request” or “U.S. District Court Docket Request” sections and click “Send”. We will add the docket to your firm’s account and enable you to select to receive instant or daily email alerts for that docket.

The Octus search feature is ever-present across the platform. Simply type company names and/or keywords into the search bar and use Boolean Operators (AND, OR, NOT, ” “) to narrow down your query. If you type in a company name you will be brought to a company-specific page; if you type in a keyword or a company name and a keyword you will be brought to a search results page with all associated content for that query.

From the search results page you can click “Data Source” to filter for specific content. (Hint: If you choose “Court Filings” from this menu, results will be from both the filing title and the full-text PDF.) Click “Save Current Search” to go back to those results again later or create an alert based on your query. You will be notified of approximately how many emails per week you would receive based on your criteria, then you can name the query so you can easily access it again from anywhere on the Octus platform by clicking “Saved Searches” (right of search bar).

Starter Packs are available across all company-specific pages on the Octus website and contain recent intel articles, key filings, company financials and more. Click any Starter Pack button to download all of this information as a ZIP folder directly onto your desktop for easy offline access. If it takes over 20 seconds, you will receive an email notification with a link to download. If you are unable to download the folder, try disabling your browser’s pop-up blocker. If you continue to have download issues, please reach out to your dedicated Customer Success Manager or email [email protected].

Octus has multiple product offerings across geographies and subject matters. If there is content on the platform from a product that your company does not currently subscribe to, you will see the “Additional Access Required” message. If this product is something you are interested in adding to your company’s subscription, please reach out to your dedicated Account Manager or email [email protected].

Chrome is the recommended browser for accessing the Octus website. Other compatible browsers include Safari and Firefox, and Internet Explorer is the least recommended.
